Energy-efficient homes in Mongolia

SINTEF Building Research is collaborating with the Selvaag Group in the management of a pilot project for Norad in Mongolia. The project will focus on energy-efficient solutions for the existing and new housing stock in Ulan Bator, where between 60 and 70 per cent of the local population live under unsatisfactory conditions in “Gher areas”. Their tented camps are now to be replaced by sustainable solutions. The pilot project aims to find out whether it is technically and economically feasible to build 150 houses as a test scheme for a potential main project.
