Hole art in New York
Anne-Karin Furunes, professor and vice dean of the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, NTNU was the inaugural exhibitor in Barry Friedman Ltd.’s new gallery space in New York City. The gallery is David Bowie’s old studio. Profsssor Furunes has received international recognition for her unusual technique. She works in a large format, perforating a screen with holes that create the patterns in the picture. Using 30 different perforation tools, she is able to create different transitions between the light and dark motifs in her pictures, which are based on photographs.
