It's 1910 and NTH, the Norwegian Institute of Technology, is officially opening. The hall is full of men, aside from a woman in the back, against the wall.

How chemistry studies became a door opener for women in 1910

The Norwegian Institute of Technology had special status and an education from the institute virtually guaranteed good career opportunities. That allowed its women graduates to break the glass ceiling in the early 20th century and become chemical engineers. But every woman needed a supportive man behind her.

Using a patient’s immune cells to prevent the spread of cancer

The fact that our immune systems capture and destroy nanoparticles and the drugs they carry has been a problem in the field of nanomedicine for some time. But, in the fight against cancer, researchers are now attempting to exploit this problem to their advantage.

A technology that gives you instructions – right before your eyes!

These smart glasses first tell you what to do, then check that you’re doing it right, while constantly making sure that you aren’t getting too tired. Future aircraft are among the products that will be manufactured with the help of this innovative Norwegian technology.

Tracking whales as they cruise the Arctic

For the first time ever, researchers have been able to track eight fin whales in near real time for five hours, as they swam along a stretch of fibre-optic cable line in the Arctic. The breakthrough suggests that fibre-optic cable networks could be harnessed to help prevent whale deaths by ship strikes.
